How to get your business set up

AGENT OS · HOW TO…

Work through this alongside your prospecting. Finish the essentials quickly, then get back to building relationships.

  1. Discuss business structure with an accountant or other appropriate professional when needed. Decide whether an LLC and any tax election suit your situation.
  2. Complete the formation paperwork appropriate to the structure you choose.
  3. Open business checking and savings accounts. Run business expenses through the business account and keep personal spending separate.
  4. Arrange professional headshots. Lance can help.
  5. Create a short, welcoming bio and video introduction. Use AI for a first draft, then make it sound like you.
  6. Complete your agent profiles on Zillow, Realtor.com, Homes.com, and the other major sites you use.
  7. Confirm your tool access and keep account information organized securely.
Draft your introduction

Copy this prompt into your preferred AI chat:

“Help me write a short, welcoming real estate agent bio and a brief spoken video introduction. Ask me about my service area, background, and how I help people. Use only the facts I provide. Keep it natural and avoid inflated experience or sales claims.”

Read it aloud, remove anything you would not say, and use consistent contact details and your headshot across profiles. Follow your brokerage’s requirements for the finished profiles.

Business structure

An LLC and an S-corp tax election are different decisions. Ask your accountant which, if either, fits you. Use the correct formation documents for your chosen structure; not every business files articles of incorporation. See Utah’s LLC resources and IRS guidance on LLC tax classification with your adviser.

Finished when: Your business accounts, essential access, and professional introduction are ready.
